Wayyyy back before fall semester even started I saw a glassblowing Groupon, and I scooped it up! I have always wanted to work with glass (what a cool medium)! It was a Groupon for 2 to take a glassblowing class at Patterson Glassworks. When I got the Groupon, we weren’t sure who would be going with me… and to be honest, we didn’t end up deciding until that week. Maggie got the long straw and Mom got the short straw so to speak.
So, off we went to glassblowing. We took a bunch of pictures so I could show you in photo slideshow form what we did. Prepare yourself. Basically the people who work there helped us do the whole thing. Here are the pictures:
I thought the whole process was so cool, and I would love to go back to make something else. They said that they do flowers in the spring, so I would love to go then! Glass is such a cool medium, you never know what your going to get! : ) In the pictures, the color strips look red and orange, but they just look like that because they are so hot! We had no idea what colors they actually were until we got them a week or so later. They have to go through a controlled cool down so they don’t shatter from temperature shock? I think. Here is the pictures of the final products! The first one is mine and the second one is Maggie’s!
Overall it was so fun and I cannot wait to go back!
